About

Starting my career at the height of the pandemic I immediately moved to London enthusiastic to widen my connections within the industry. It was much more feasible to take this leap after moving away from home, to a city with a larger range of work, opportunities and contacts.

I have a unique skillset that separates me from most cinematographers; I am legally blind with a severe visual impairment. However, with this clear uphill battle does hold me back from pursuing a career I am passionate about and create compelling visual storytelling and art portrayed in my work.

I am very proud to have paved the way for my career, whilst meeting new contacts and promoting my unique skill set, which is ultimately why I am showcasing my work. I have been successful in this, working freelance full time on professional film sets, ranging from: short and long form narrative, music videos and commercials. Which have won numerous awards in cinematography and also directing.

After years of ongoing experience and progression, I have built up a portfolio of reputable projects, such as; The Witcher: Blood Origin (Netflix), Citadel (Amazon Prime), Everything Now (Netflix) plus many others. As well as high end Film and TV, I have been involved in some exclusive commercials, such as Waterford Crystal, The FA, NatWest and other well-regarded brands.

Testimonials -

I’ve had the pleasure of working many times with Tom on various projects and his talent is exceptional. With a creative eye for detail and personable approach, I’ve actually always recommended him to friends and colleagues.

Always keen to get artistic with his shots, he has a way of making incredible narrative choices on camera.

Tom is always the first person I call to work with and I can’t speak highly of his work and professionalism
— Holly Prentice (Actress)
Working with Tom on Birdsong was a great experience. Tom’s professional approach and direction enabled me to understand what he wanted from me as an actor, while also taking onboard my own opinions. It felt more like a collaborative process as opposed to being dictated to. Tom has set the bar high with regards to what I now expect in the film making industry, and would happily work with him again.
— Elliot Hay (Elliot in "Birdsong")
Tom’s approach as a Director of Photography was for lack of a better word, exceptional. His ability to interpret my vision as Director was immeasurable and could not be more pleased with his professionalism and competence. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great cinematographer.
— Lewis Mann (Director of "The Funeral")
Tom Laxton is a joy to work with, he always brings an air of professionally to set whilst being a really nice guy to be around. As a Director of Photography I don’t think I’ve worked with anyone so passionate about other peoples ideas and someone so eager to perform well.
— Jonny Haines (Director of "The Hardest Part")
